SSC CGL 2016 Selection Process and Exam Pattern

The SSC CGL Tier I exam is scheduled to be conducted on May 8 & 22, 2016. All those who are aspiring for central government jobs in group B & C cadre would have applied & started preparing for Tier 1 exams. From this year onwards, there are no interviews for SSC CGL posts which make the SSC recruitment even more competitive. There are many positions to be filled up through this exam such as Tax assistants, Auditors, Tax inspector, Assistant Sector officers etc., Last year, around 8600 vacancies were created for qualifiers in different government departments. So we can expect 8000 – 10000 posts in SSC CGL 2016 too.

It is estimated that atleast 20 lakh candidates may have applied for these exams. To emerge successful among these people, you will need to have a good SSC CGL study plan. Before getting to know about the SSC CGL syllabus, here is the selection process that you need to go through.

  • Tier I –
Written Test for 200 marks
  • Tier II –
Written test for 400 marks (600 marks for stat investigator & AAO posts)
  • Tier III –
Computer proficiency test or Skill test/ Document verification

Candidates who qualify in tier I test & posses necessary total cutoffs only would be shortlisted for tier II exam. Tier I exam pattern consists of 200 objective type questions that are of std.12 & degree level. While every correct answer will fetch you 1 mark, 0.25 marks shall be reduced as negative marking for each wrong answer.
